In It Together Spring Conference

In It Together are a group of parents and carers of children and young people with a wide range of disabilities and special needs who come together regularly to informally express our views and opinions on the type of services families need in Northumberland. The group works closely with service providers to develop and maintain accessible, high quality services for all children and young people with additional needs and disabilities, working towards a positive future for all.

In It Together are holding their Annual Conference on Thursday 15th March starting at 10.00am at The Alnwick Garden. It will be open to all parents and carers of children and young people with special education needs and/or disabilities living or educated in Northumberland. Ageing Well in Northumberland Spring Information Fair – POSTPONED

Update 1 March: This event has been cancelled due to the bad weather this week. It will be rescheduled for later in the year and we will post more details when we have them.

This information fair from Ageing Well in Northumberland will bring together local charities and community groups for older people. These organiastions have a host of information and advice about health, wellbeing, activities and finances and benefits. The event is for all older people in the Prudhoe area and their family, friends and neighbours. Free coffee and cake will be available for all attendees.

Morpeth Market Drop-in

We will be market stall holders on Wednesday 21 February, when we visit Morpeth Market to talk to local people about their health and social care experiences. Good or not so good, praise or concern, we want to hear your thoughts. You can also complete our annual survey which will help us discover what matters to you about the care you and your family receive from GPs, hospitals, dentists, mental health services, pharmacists, care homes and any other service you may use or need to use in the future. Pick up one of our pens, lip balms or stress balls if you’re quick!

 

Wylam drop-in: Talk to us about local services

Wylam drop-in: Talk to us about local services

We will be in Wylam on Saturday 24 February, at the Wylam Institute Coffee Morning. We’d like to talk to local people about health and social care services in the area and in particular, about the proposed changes to Riversdale GP Surgery and the relocation of services to the Oaklands Centre in Prudhoe.

Please come over and see us if you are there for a cuppa, or call in and have a chat if you are in the area.

If you can’t join us that day, please get in touch with any comments or feedback you’d like to share with us. We hope to plan more visits to local groups in the near future; please keep an eye on the website and our Facebook and Twitter pages for more details soon.

Volunteer and Wellbeing Fair – Hexham

If you’re looking for something new in 2018 then this fair is for you. Come along and find out how you can get more involved with your community and improve your overall health. Try a taster session of energy healing, pick up information leaflets and have a chat about volunteering opportunities.

The event is brought to you by Northumberland CVA and as well as Healthwatch Northumberland, there’ll be all sorts of local organisations there including:  Northumberland Cancer Support Group, Alzheimers UK, Josies Dragonfly TrustHexham Community Partnership, ChrysalisCitizens Advice Bureau and more besides.

If you’ve ever thought about doing some volunteering or just want to feel a bit better in 2018, then come along to find out more about opportunities for you to get involved in things happening near to you. The event is brought to you by Northumberland CVA and as well as Healthwatch Northumberland, there’ll be all sorts of local organisations there including: Tyneside & Northumberland Mind, Northumbria Cancer Patient and Carer Group, Cygnus Support, Northumbria Police, Berwick Animal Rescue, Northumberland County Blind Association, Citizens Advice Bureau and many more.

Confidentially Caring from Carers Northumberland

A free taster session from Carers Northumberland which looks at how carers manage their daily lives and the constant juggling of caring responsibilities and personal stress. It aims to support carers in sharing experiences and offer a few possible coping mechanisms to take away. Carers will also find out more about the personal and practical support that Carers Northumberland can offer to sustain the health and wellbeing of the most important person – the unpaid family carer.

Rothbury Drop-in Session

Following on from the changes to primary care services in Harbottle, the recent relocation of GP services in Rothbury and the closure of a dental practice, we are keen to hear how these arrangements are working for local people. Please get in touch to share your experiences of health provision in the area, either positive or negative.

The Healthwatch Northumberland team will be in the Cheviot Room at The Jubilee Hall in Rothbury on Friday 26 January from 12.00pm – 1.00pm, to talk to local people about their views and experiences and we invite you to call in for a chat if you use health services in the area. This is a drop-in session so no need to book, just call in any time between 12.00pm and 1.00pm.
